A New Diagnostic Tool: Tangible/Intangible

Figure 2 shows the result of an assessment made by the executive group of a major financial institution. They rated the company's tangible dimension "high," and the intangible dimension "moderately low." Their assessment is represented by the rectangle that was formed when they connected their dots. The space inside the rectangle illustrates the amount of energy they assessed was used currently in the organization. The space between the rectangle and the dotted lines illustrates the amount of untapped energy. They were surprised to discover that peak organizational performance in their company could be achieved with minimal investment by focusing resources on the intangible dimension of their business.
